In the Express Entry draw held on February 10, 2021, Canada invited 654 candidates to apply for permanent residence. The draw that targeted Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) candidates who had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of 720. Compared to the previous PNP draw held on January 20, 2021, the CRS cut-off score in the latest draw is 21 points lower.
As in the previous draws, a tie-breaking rule was applied in the latest Express Entry draw too. So, not all candidates who had a minimum CRS score of 720 received invitations in the draw, but only those who had submitted their profile before time stamp given, which was August 14, 2020, at 6:51:00 UTC.
The Express Entry candidates who have received a provincial nomination have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points added to their total score. This is the reason why the CRS score in the latest draw is higher compared to all-program draws. Canada is yet to conduct an all-program Express Entry draw in 2021.
Canada Express Entry system
Canada Express Entry system manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Candidates under these programs as well as those who are eligible under the various Express Entry-aligned PNP programs are selected for invitation based on their Comprehensive Ranking System score. The score is awarded based on various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability etc. Those with the highest scores receive invitations in the federal Express Entry draws that are conducted once in every two weeks.
