In the Canada Express Entry draw held on March 8, a total of 671 candidates received invitations to apply for permanent residence in the country. The draw targeted Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of 739.
This CRS score requirement may appear to be too high at the first look. But considering the fact that provincial nominees get an additional 600 CRS score points, those who have a basic CRS score of 139 have become eligible to receive an invitation in this draw. As per the tie-break rule, only those candidates who had submitted their profile before February 16, 2021 at 19:10:25 UTC have been considered in the February 13 draw.
Express Entry draw 2021
Canada has issued 38657 Express Entry invitations so far this year. This is three times higher that the number of invitations issued during the same period in 2020. As per the Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2021-2023, the country will be welcoming 401000 newcomers in 2021. Most of the invitations among these are allotted to Express Entry.
The latest draw comes 22 days after the historic Express Entry draw that invited 27332 invitations, which was held on February 13. The minimum CRS score required in this draw, which targeted only Canadian Experience Class candidates, was 75. An interval of more than two weeks is rare between consecutive Express Entry draws. But the March 8 draw happened 22 days after the February 13 draw.
Canada Express Entry: One of the best pathways for Canada immigration
The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three economic immigration programs of Canada, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. Each Express Entry candidate is awarded a CRS score based on various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability etc. The score is calculated either as individual or as couple, calculating the score of couples together. Though a job offer is not necessary, if the candidate has one, it will help them get some additional CRS score points.
Those with the highest CRS score receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
