Just a day after a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-only Express Entry draw was held, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) held another Express Entry draw exclusively for Canadian Experience Class(CEC) candidates on July 22, continuing the existing trend of draws alternately targeting PNP and CEC candidates. In the latest draw, 4500 CEC candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of 357 received invitations to apply for permanent residence. It is a positive sign that the CRS cut-off score has come down from 369 in the previous CEC draw held on July 8. A tie-break rule was also applied in the draw and the time stamp given was February 14, 2021 at 09:04:15 UTC. This is the second lowest CRS score requirement in all CEC-specific draws held so far and matches that of the draw held on June 24. The lowest CRS requirement was 75 in the draw of February 13, which invited 27332 CEC candidates.
Because of the border restrictions imposed in the wake of COVID-19, the Canada Express Entry draws have been alternating between CEC and PNP only draws ever since the start of this year. But as the COVID situation in Canada is improving, the country is rolling back the border restrictions. Fully vaccinated non-essential travellers from the US will be allowed to enter the country from August. From September onwards, fully vaccinated non-essential travellers from all countries will be allowed to come to Canada. So, it is expected that Canada may soon conduct an all-program Express Entry draw, which will give a chance to Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSWP) candidates and Federal Skilled Trades Program(FSTP) candidates to apply for permanent residence.
This year, Canada will be welcoming 401000 new immigrants. Almost a quarter of these immigrants will be admitted through Express Entry.
