In the Express Entry draw held on February 16, Canada invited 1082 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates to apply for permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for these candidates to receive an invitation was 710. As Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates receive 600 additional CRS score points, we can say that the basic minimum CRS score of the invited candidates was just 110. The candidates who have been invited may submit the complete application for permanent residence within 60 days. In the previous Express Entry draw held two weeks ago, 1070 PNP candidates had received invitations. Ever since September 2021, Canada Express Entry draws have been exclusively targeting PNP candidates. It is learned that, Express Entry draws will consider candidates from other categories after Canada manages to reduce immigration application backlogs at least by half by the middle of the current year.
Express Entry in Immigration Levels Plan
As per the Immigration Levels Plan of Canada for 2022-2024, the country will be welcoming 55900 new immigrants in 2022 through programs managed under the Express Entry. As per the Plan, 75750 new immigrants will come to Canada through Express Entry in 2023 and in 2024, the number will be 111,500.
Canada Express Entry
The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. Those who wish to receive an Express Entry invitation must first create an Express Entry profile. Based on the information provided in the profile each candidate will be assessed and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System score or CRS score. The candidates who have a provincial nomination will have 600 additional CRS score points. Those with the highest scores will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
