932 PNP candidates invited in Express Entry draw of June 8

932 PNP candidates invited in Express Entry draw of June 8

In the largest Express Entry draw held since March 2022, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 932 provincial nominees to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 796 points to receive an invitation. This might be one of the last Provincial Nominee Program-specific draw to be held as Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has already announced that all-program Express Entry draws would be resumed in July 2022. So far, the IRCC has invited a total of 9365 provincial nominee through Express Entry this year.
pnp-finderThe latest draw held on June 8th implemented tie-breaking rule and the time stamp was 1.13 pm EST. It means only those candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time received invitations.

The IRCC has been facing a huge backlog of applications, which was one of the reasons why the Express Entry draws were restricted to PNP candidates. With the backlog reduced and Canada facing a huge labour shortage, the all-program Express Entry draws would be resumed in July.
Candidates applied in the following streams will start receiving invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada:

  1. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  2. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  3. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

What is Express Entry?

The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs of Canada, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. The Express Entry assesses candidates on the basis of various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency etc. and awards a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada, in the Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. The Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination receive 600 additional CRS score points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in an Express Entry draw.

However, the Express Entry system will be undergoing major changes in the months to come and the criteria for selecting candidates under the system may be changed as well.
