All-Program Express Entry: Canada Invites 1,510 Profiles With CRS 546 To Apply For PR

Express Entry draw 279

Highlights

1. IRCC held its first all-program Express Entry draws of 2024 on January 10.

2. This draw marks the 279th Express Entry draw since 2015.

3. Some 1,510 Express Entry profiles qualifying for FSWP, FSTP, CEC, and PNP received invitations to apply for Canada PR.

4. The qualifying Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) increased to 546 points.

5. IRCC will continue to hold new category-based selections for Canada PR in 2024.

Canada marked its first nominations for permanent residency in 2024 with an all-program Express Entry draw. It resulted in 1,510 candidates receiving invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residency (PR).

The invited profile includes those qualifying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), or Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) or with provincial nominations from any Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Further, all the invited candidates had a qualifying score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) above 546. This is four points higher than the previous December 19 general draw. IRCC considered profiles submitted on or before December 31, 2023, at 18:23:22 UTC in case of a tie in the CRS score.

Canada Express Entry in 2024

The outlook for Canada Express Entry in 2024 is relatively stable with positive opportunities for skilled immigrants. Here’s a breakdown of key factors to consider:

Immigration Levels:

1. The Canadian government has confirmed its 2024-2026 Immigration Levels Plan, targeting 485,000 new permanent residents in 2024 and increasing that number to 500,000 in subsequent years.

2. Express Entry is expected to remain the primary selection system for skilled workers, with a target of 110,700 admissions through this program in 2024.

Category-Based Draws:

1. The government introduced category-based draws in 2023, prioritizing certain groups like healthcare professionals, STEM workers, skilled trades, transport occupations, agri-food occupations, and those with French language proficiency.

2. While exact details weren’t announced for 2024, it’s predicted that category-based draws will continue, potentially with adjustments based on labor market needs. This could be relevant for individuals in high-demand professions.

Processing Times:

1. While efforts are ongoing to streamline the process, it’s important to manage expectations. Processing times might still experience fluctuations throughout 2024.

Requirements to Qualify for PR via Canada Express Entry System

Canada Express Entry system has been managing economic immigration applications since 2015. It targets skilled foreign workers and international students who want to live and work in Canada

The Express Entry system operates on a points-based system, known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assigns scores to applicants based on factors such as

1. Age,

2. Education,

3. Work experience,

4. Language proficiency (in English or French),

5. and other additional factors.

The highest-scoring candidates are then invited to apply for permanent residence through regular draws from the Express Entry pool.

If an applicant receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA) based on their CRS score, they can then submit a complete permanent residence application within a specified timeframe, typically 60 days.
