The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has received an additional nomination allocation for the year 2017. So Ontario will continue to process applications and issue nominations until nominations for additional allocation is met. The exact number of additional nominations will be announced only at a later date, according to the spokesperson for Ontario’s Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration.
As per an update on November 22nd, OINP has already met its allocation of 6000 nominations under the Provincial Nominee Program for Canada for the year 2017. If the applications exceed the additional allocation, they will be processed in 2018 after which successful applicants will be nominated.
OINP
Through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), Ontario nominates potential immigrants and families for permanent residence. The program targets skilled workers, international students and entrepreneurs. It also supports the efforts of the employers to attract and retain skilled workers. With an aim to meet the demand for OINP, the province has expanded its human resources and introduced an online application system for reducing the processing time. As part of improving the program, Ontario has launched two new immigration streams: The Express Entry: Skilled Trades Stream and Employer Job Offer: In-demand Skills Stream Pilot. The Human Capital Priorities Stream of the OINP, which is aligned with the federal Express Entry pool, also opened several times in 2017. Through the stream, Notifications of Interest (NOIs) are issued to qualified candidates. NOIs serve as Invitations to Apply for provincial nominations.
