The province of Prince Edward Island conducted its first scheduled Provincial Nominee Program draw on January 20 and invited a total of 132 immigration candidates. The invited candidates belong to the Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact categories of Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). While Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates together received 121 invitations, the remaining 11 invitations went to Business Impact candidates. Business Impact candidates were required to have a minimum provincial score of 72 points.
In the year 2021, Prince Edward Island invited 1804 immigration candidates through scheduled draws. 1697 among them were Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates while the remaining 157 candidates belonged to the Business Impact stream.
PEI PNP Express Entry category
The PEI PNP Express Entry category is aligned to the Express Entry system of the federal government. To be eligible under the stream, the candidate needs to have an Express Entry profile. They must also submit an Expression of Interest to the PEI PNP’s first draw. Based on various human capital factors, the candidate will be awarded an Expression of Interest score by the PEI PNP’s first draw. The highest-scoring candidates will be invited to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are conducted regularly.
PEI PNP Labour Impact category
The candidates who have a valid job offer from PEI PNP and the support of their employer to settle in the province may apply for a provincial nomination through Labour Impact category. The category is divided into three streams: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate. The candidates under this category also are required to submit an Expression of Interest to be considered for provincial nomination.
PEI PNP Business Impact category
Business Impact category candidates need to meet minimum provincial score requirement in order to receive an invitation. This minimum score varies in each draw. In the latest draw, invitations were issued to candidates under the Work Permit Stream. This stream targets for foreign entrepreneurs who want to own and operate a business in the province.
