Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) invited a total of 320 Express Entry candidates in the two draws held in April. In the first draw held on April 1, a total of 120 Express Entry candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 381 received invitations. The second draw held on April 14 invited 200 Express Entry candidates with a minimum CRS score of 353.
The candidates who have received the invitations may now apply for provincial nomination from Alberta. If they successfully obtain provincial nomination, they will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total score and that guarantee an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
Canada Express Entry
The Express Entry candidates are assessed and ranked on the basis of CRS score, which is awarded based on various human capital factors such as age, education qualification, work experience, language proficiency etc. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration through the three major federal economic immigration programs of Canada, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Ever since Canada introduced certain restrictive measures in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the Express Entry draws have been targeting Canadian Experience Class candidates and provincial nominees.
Alberta Express Entry Stream: Eligibility criteria
To be eligible to apply for provincial nomination under the Alberta Express Entry stream, the candidate must have work experience in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification priorities of Alberta. - A close family member living in the province
With the latest draws, the total number of invitations issued by Alberta to Express Entry candidates has reached 1207. Last year, Alberta issued a total of 6,884 invitations to Express Entry candidates.
