In the Express Entry stream draw held on December 8, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program or AAIP invited 129 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of the invited candidates was 305. To receive an invitation, the candidates were also required to have stated their interest to immigrate permanently to the province and work experience in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification priorities of Alberta.
Alberta Express Entry stream
In order to receive a Notification of Interest or NOI in an Alberta Express Entry stream draw, a candidate must meet the following requirements:
– An active Express Entry profile
– Having demonstrated interest to settle in the province of Alberta.
– Work experience in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification priorities of Alberta.
– Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of 300.
If a candidate meets the following requirements, they have a better chance of receiving a Notification of Interest(NOI):
– A job offer from an Alberta employer
– Study or work experience in Alberta
– A close relative like parent or child or sibling living in Alberta.
However, they may not receive an NOI, if their Express Entry profile is about to expire within three months or if they are working in an ineligible occupation.
It was recently, Alberta added family relatives eligibility criteria for the Express Entry stream. This is going to help the province conduct partial draws which will be completely based on in-demand occupations and family relatives. So, this will increase the chances of those candidates who have close family relatives in Alberta to receive provincial nomination.
Once a candidate receive a Notification of Interest under the Alberta Express Entry stream, they may apply for provincial nomination from Alberta. If they are nominated by Alberta, they will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points added to their profile. That will guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
