The Canadian province of Ontario, one of the most popular destinations for immigrants to the country, wants the federal government to double the number of skilled immigrants allowed to settle in the province. The Immigration Minister of Ontario Monte McNaughton informed in a Tweet that he had urged the federal government to increase the number of skilled newcomers to Ontario as the province is facing a historic labour shortage. “Our government wants to build back a better, stronger Ontario – but we need the people to do it,” his Tweet read. Currently, the annual nomination allocation for Ontario is 9000. Doubling the number means 18000 new immigrants will be allowed to move to the province every year.
