July was an eventful month for the Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs(PNPs) and a total of 6000 immigration candidates received invitations from various PNPs during the month.
Provincial Nominee Programs allow provinces in Canada to select candidates who can meet their unique labour market requirements. As per the Immigration Levels Plan of Canada for 2021-2023, the country would be welcoming more than 80000 immigrants through PNPs during the three years.
PNP immigration through Express Entry
Most of the PNPs have at least one stream or category aligned to the Federal Express Entry. A provincial nomination guarantees Express Entry candidates an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) conducted two PNP-specific Express Entry draws in the month of July. The first one, held on July 7, invited 627 candidates to apply for permanent residence. The other one was held on July 21 and 462 PNP candidates received invitations.
