The Prince Edward Island (PEI) draw held on September 19 issued provincial nominations to eligible candidates under its Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact immigration categories.
The latest release reported that 122 invitations were issued out of which 109 invitations were divided between the Express Entry and Labour Impact streams, while another 13 invitations went to eligible candidates under the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.
The number of selected Express Entry candidates or the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score is yet to be revealed by the concerned authorities.
With the results of the latest draw, PEI has issued a total of 1,031 invitations to apply for provincial nominations since the start of 2019. Choosing to apply for Canada Permanent Residence (PR) visa through provincial nomination guarantees success. It adds an additional 600 points to the overall CRS score, thereby boosting one’s chances of getting a Canada PR visa.

Express Entry Category
Express Entry Category under the PEI PNP is linked with the federal Express Entry system.
The federal Express Entry manages the pool of candidates for three high-skilled immigration categories — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. Candidates who would like to be considered for a provincial nomination from PEI must create a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.
Such Express Entry profiles seeking out for PEI PNP are given an EOI score out of 100 based on several factors like education, work experience and language proficiency in English or French.
The unique arrangement between the federal government and the provincial government allows PEI to set its own rules for selecting immigrants. As a result, it prioritizes Express Entry candidates who are living and working in PEI.
The monthly draws are held to extend invitations for eligible candidates to apply for a provincial nomination to PEI. The next draw is scheduled for October 17, 2019.
Labour Impact Category
Whereas Labour Impact Category under PEI PNP is not aligned with the Express Entry system. It has three streams — Skilled Workers (in PEI and outside Canada), International Graduates and Critical Workers. All the three streams require candidates to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) in order to be eligible for a provincial nomination.
The criteria for these streams must be that the candidates be working in PEI or have an eligible full-time, long-term job offer from an employer in the province.
Business Impact Category
The eligible foreign entrepreneurs with business ownership or eligible management experience who would like to invest in and run a business in PEI can apply under the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.
The Work Permit stream requires points-based EOI system. The lowest-ranked candidate in the latest September 19 draw had a score of 115.
