In the draw to have held in 2019, Manitoba invited 626 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The candidates invited in the January 17 draw belonged to three streams of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)–Skilled Workers Overseas, Skilled Workers in Manitoba and International Education streams. Manitoba Express Entry candidates are also among those who received LAAs.
Manitoba Express Entry
Out of the total Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) issued, 394 were issued to candidates belonging to the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream. These included an unspecified number of Express Entry candidates. The Express Entry candidates nominated by Manitoba will receive 600 additional CRS points that would guarantee an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draws.
The first step for Express Entry candidates who are interested in applying for provincial nomination from Manitoba is submitting an Expression of Interest profile with the MPNP. Each profile is awarded a score on the basis of a number of factors such as education, language proficiency and education or work experience in Manitoba. Candidates with high scores will be invited to apply for provincial nomination.
In the draw held on January 17, Express Entry candidates were required to have a valid Express Entry ID, job seeker validation code and minimum six months of recent experience in an in-demand occupation.
Skilled Workers Overseas
Manitoba invited Skilled Workers Overseas stream candidates who have either a close relative residing in Manitoba or work experience in the province. The candidates were also required to have recent work experience of minimum six months in an in-demand occupation in Manitoba. The minimum score for Skilled Workers Overseas candidates in the January 17 draw was 575.
Manitoba invited another 27 Skilled Workers Overseas candidates through the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The minimum required score for these candidates was 729.
Skilled Workers in Manitoba and International Education Stream
In the January 17 draw, MPNP issued 232 invitations to candidates of Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream and International Education stream. The number of LAAs issued to candidates of Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream was 200 and they were required to have a minimum score of 650. International Education Stream candidates received 32 invitations. This stream is for international graduates of post-secondary institutions in Manitoba with skills required by Manitoba employers.
