In the Manitoba Expression of Interest draw held on February 13, a total of 242 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination. This is the second Manitoba Expression of Interest draw being held within just two weeks and the candidates belonging to the following provincial streams received the invitations to apply:
Express Entry in Manitoba
An Express Entry candidate must submit an Expression of Interest to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) if they want to be considered for Manitoba’s provincial nomination. They must also have work experience in one of the in-demand occupations of Manitoba and meet certain other requirements to be eligible. Those who receive provincial nomination from Manitoba will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points added to their total CRS score. It guarantees them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
Manitoba Expression of Interest
Those immigration candidates who wish to be nominated by Manitoba under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba or the Skilled Workers Overseas categories must first submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP. Based on the information provided in the EoI, each candidate is assessed on various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, previous connections to the province etc., and awarded a score out of 1000. The highest scoring candidates are issued Letters of Advice to Apply by the MPNP. The minimum scores required for candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories in the latest draw were as follows:
Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 525
Skilled Workers Overseas: 611
Manitoba Expression of Interest: Immigration categories
Through the Skilled Worker Overseas category, MPNP nominates foreign workers capable of supporting Manitoba’s labour market for permanent residence in Canada. To be eligible under this category, the candidate must demonstrate a previous connection to Manitoba in the form of close relatives or friends residing here, education or work experience or an invitation from MPNP received through one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of Manitoba. However, it is not mandatory for them to be present in Manitoba at the time of submitting the application. The 27 Skilled Workers Overseas candidates who received invitations in the February 13 draw had been invited directly under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
To be eligible under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category, the candidate must be working in Manitoba at the time of submitting the application. They must also have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer, besides meeting other criteria.
Manitoba invites graduates with in-demand skills to apply for provincial nomination through the International Education Stream.
