Usually, in Manitoba draws, only a few Express Entry candidates are invited at a time. While these candidates would belong to Skilled Workers in Manitoba and International Education Stream, the non-Express Entry candidates apply under Skilled Worker Overseas Stream. The Express Entry candidates, if successfully apply for and obtain provincial nomination, will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total score.

Canada Express Entry

Canada Express Entry system manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. When an Express Entry candidate receives a provincial nomination, they will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points added to their total score. It will guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program

Manitoba offers a number of immigration pathways for those who wish to settle in the province. These pathways allow candidates to apply for provincial nomination from Manitoba, which can lead them to permanent residence status in Canada.

In order to receive a provincial nomination from Manitoba under either Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams, the candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP. Each candidate is then awarded an EoI score out of 1000 based on various eligibility factors. Skilled Workers Overseas candidates must demonstrate previous connections to the province. At the same time, Skilled Workers in Manitoba must have a full-time permanent job offer. Similarly, International Education Stream candidates must have completed their education in one of the higher education institutions of Manitoba and demonstrate that they have in-demand skills.
