In the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program(PEI PNP) draw held on December 17, a total of 195 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination. Out of these, 174 candidates belonged to the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories of PEI PNP. The remaining 21 invitations went to Business Impact candidates.
PEI PNP Express Entry category
The Express Entry category PEI PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for three economic-class immigration categories, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. Under this system, each candidate is assessed and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score out of 1200 based on various factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency etc. The Express Entry candidates who have a provincial nomination are awarded 600 additional CRS score points. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
To be considered for provincial nomination from PEI, Express Entry candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest. Each of these EoIs are awarded points based on the unique points grid of the province. Candidates with the highest scores receive invitations to apply for provincial nomination in the monthly draws. However, PEI PNP has not specified how many Express Entry candidates were invited and the minimum required score in the latest draw.
Labour Impact category
The Labour Impact category is for those candidates who have a valid job offer from a PEI employer. It is further divided into three streams, which are Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International graduates. The candidates under this category too need to submit an Expression of Interest to the PEI PNP to be considered for provincial nomination.
Business Impact category
The Business Impact category candidates who received invitations in the latest draw required a minimum EoI score of 85. The invitations were issued under the work permit stream that allows foreign entrepreneurs to own and operate a business in PEI PNP.
