In the Saskatchewan draw held on December 17, a total of 576 candidates received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. The invited candidates belonged to the Express Entry and Occupations In-demand sub-categories of International Skilled Worker Category under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program(SINP). While 190 invited candidates belonged to Express Entry sub-category, the remaining 386 invitations were issued to Occupations In-Demand candidates.
To receive an invitation in the Saskatchewan draw, the candidates under both these sub-categories must submit an Expression of Interest to the SINP. In the December 17 draw, the minimum required EoI score for candidates under both these sub-categories was 71. The invited candidates also have work experience in one of the 89 in-demand occupations of Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan Expression of Interest system
Saskatchewan uses the Expression of Interest system to select candidates who have the potential to succeed in the labour market of the province. In the Expression of Interest, the candidates must demonstrate their commitment to build a life in the province of Saskatchewan. Based on various eligibility factors such as age, work experience, education, language ability and previous connections to the province, each Expression of Interest profile is awarded a score out of 100 on the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid of Saskatchewan. Candidates with the highest scores are invited to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are conducted regularly. Recently, Saskatchewan has started giving more EoI points to those who can speak English and French.
Express Entry sub-category
In the latest Saskatchewan PNP draw held on December 17, the number of Express Entry candidates who received invitations was 190. The candidates were required to have an active Express Entry profile. They were also required to have submitted an Expression of Interest to the Saskatchewan PNP. If the invited candidates successfully submit an application and obtain provincial nomination from Saskatchewan, they will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points added to their total score and that would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
Occupations In-Demand sub-category
The Occupations In-demand sub-category is for candidates who do not have an Express Entry profile. This sub-category targets immigration candidates who have work experience in occupations that have high demand in the province of Saskatchewan. The number of Occupations In-Demand candidates invited in the latest draw was 386 and their minimum required EoI score was 71.
