The Saskatchewan Expression of Interest draw held on September 27 issued 438 invitations to apply for provincial nomination. Out of these, 225 invitations were issued to candidates from the Express Entry sub-category of Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The remaining 213 invitations were issued to candidates belonging to the Occupations In-Demand sub-category.
The Saskatchewan Expression of Interest draw witnessed the lowest ever points requirements with the minimum score required for Express Entry candidates being 65 and 66 for Occupations In-Demand candidates.
The Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nomination from Saskatchewan will get 600 additional CRS points, which will increase their chances for being invited to apply for provincial nomination in the subsequent Express Entry draws. But in order to be considered under the Express Entry sub-category of SINP, the candidate must first enter the federal Express Entry pool.
The candidates who are not in the Express Entry pool can apply through the Occupation In-Demand sub-category of SINP. This category is meant for skilled workers having work experience in one of the In-demand occupations of Saskatchewan. Upon receiving a nomination, these candidates can directly apply to the Government of Canada for Canadian permanent residence. The requirements for both the Express Entry and Occupations in Demand sub-categories are almost the same and do not require a job offer for submitting an Expression of Interest.
In the previous Saskatchewan Expression of Interest draw held almost a week ago on September 21, SINP had issued 140 invitations to candidates belonging to Occupations In-Demand sub-category.
Saskatchewan introduced Expression of Interest system for its International Skilled Worker categories in July this year. The first step in applying for provincial nomination through this system is creating an EOI profile. Based on the information provided in the profile, the candidates will be awarded scores. A candidate has to score a minimum of 60 be points in order to be eligible. The highest scoring candidates will be invited to apply for provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.
