The Saskatchewan PNP draw held on August 14 invited 553 Canada-immigration hopefuls to apply for provincial nomination. The invited candidates belonged to the two sub-categories under the International Skilled Worker category, which are Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand.
The latest Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program(SINP) draw is the biggest such draw since February 27 in which 576 invitations were issued and thus, the biggest draw since Canada introduced special restrictions in March in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak.
Saskatchewan PNP Expression of Interest
To receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination under either the Express Entry or the Occupations In-Demand subcategory, the candidates must have submitted an Expression of Interest(EoI) to the SINP. Each EoI profile submitted in this manner is then assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors such as work experience, education, language proficiency, age and previous connections to the province. The assessment aims to determine the candidate’s ability to establish themselves economically in the province of Saskatchewan. Each EOI profile is awarded a score out of 100 and the highest scoring candidates are invited to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are conducted regularly. The minimum score required for candidates invited in the August 14 draw was 69.
Saskatchewan PNP Express Entry sub-category
In the August 14 draw, 286 Saskatchewan PNP Express Entry sub-category candidates received invitations to apply. The major criterion to qualify under this sub-category is an active Express Entry profile. The Express Entry system manages applications for immigration under three major federal economic immigration programs, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. The Express Entry candidates may receive an invitation from SINP if they submit an Expression of Interest and score at least 69 on the Points Assessment Grid of SINP.
The Express Entry candidates, if nominated by Saskatchewan, will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System score points that guarantee them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada in the federal Express Entry draws.
Occupations In-Demand sub-category
The Occupation In-Demand sub-category under the Saskatchewan PNP targets immigration candidates who do not have a federal Express Entry profile. In the August 14 Saskatchewan PNP draw, a total of 247 Occupations In-Demand candidates received invitations to apply and the minimum required provincial score was 69.
