Saskatchewan PNP invites 279 candidates in latest Expression of Interest draw

In the latest Saskatchewan draw held on April 8, the province invited 279 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. All the invited candidates belong to the International Skilled Worker category under Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). Of the total of 279 invitations issued, 146 went to candidates of Express Entry subcategory under the International Skilled Worker category and the remaining 133 went to Occupations In Demand subcategory candidates.

The minimum required Expression of Interest (EoI) score for the invited candidates, irrespective of the category, was 70. They were also required to have their Educational Credential Assessments done.

Another eligibility requirement to receive the invitation was work experience in one of 58 in-demand occupations of Saskatchewan. The eligible occupations include medical laboratory technicians, education counsellors, social workers etc.

Saskatchewan PNP Occupations In Demand

The Occupations In Demand subcategory of Saskatchewan PNP is for candidates who does not have an Express Entry profile. To be eligible under this stream, candidates must have work experience in one of the in-demand occupations of Saskatchewan. However, a job offer is not mandatory.

The Occupations In Demand stream of Saskatchewan PNP is managed under the Expression of Interest system. So the candidates need to submit an Expression of Interest to be considered under this sub category.

Saskatchewan PNP Expression of Interest System

Through the Expression of Interest system, Saskatchewan selects immigration candidates who can contribute towards the growth of its economy with their skills and work experience. The candidates are assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency and previous connections to the province.

Based on these factors, each Expression of Interest profile is awarded a score out of 100. Those with the highest scores receive invitations to apply for provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan PNP Express Entry

The Express Entry sub-category of Saskatchewan PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three economic immigration programs, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. To receive provincial nomination from Saskatchewan, Express Entry candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest to the Saskatchewan PNP. If nominated by the province, they will receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System score points that would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
