The Australian Department of Immigration has released the occupation ceilings various occupations under the General Skilled Migration.

Occupation Ceiling is maximum number of invitations will be issued apply for the types of visas listed below:

1. Skilled independent visas
2. Skilled regional sponsored visas
3. Skilled or business state or territory sponsored visas

Occupation ceilings were raised for the pro rata occupations listed below:

1. Software and Applications Programmers: Raised by 540 places to 6202
2. ICT Business and Systems Analysts: Raised by 92 places to 1574
3. Industrial, Mechanical and Production Engineers: Raised by 639 places to 2178
4. Accountants: Raised by 2285 places to 4785

For the following occupations, the occupational ceilings were reduced:

1. Computer Network Professionals: Brought down by 108 places to 1318
2. Auditors, Company Secretaries and Corporate Treasurers: Brought down by 86 places to 1327

Occupation ceilings for the following occupations remain unchanged:

1. Electronics Engineers: 1000 places
2. Other Engineering Professionals: 1000 places
