In the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program(SINP) draw held on March 11, a total of 248 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The invited candidates belong to the International Skilled Worker category of SINP. Among the total number of invitations sent, 72 went to Express Entry subcategory candidates while the remaining 176 nominations went to Occupations In-Demand sub-category candidates.
All the invited candidates had a minimum Expression of Interest score of 71. They were also supposed to have Educational Credential Assessments done to prove that their foreign education is equivalent to Canadian standards.
The candidates were also required to have work experience in one of the 70 in-demand occupations. Some of these occupations included purchasing agents and officers, social and community service workers as well as educational counsellors.
SINP Occupations In-Demand sub-category
The candidates who do not have an Express Entry profile may receive an invitation from SINP under the Occupations In-demand sub-category. The sub category targets high skilled workers who have experience in an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan and do not have a job offer.
In order to apply for provincial nomination under this sub category, the candidates need to create an Expression of Interest profile through the online application system of SINP. The EoI system allows the province to select candidates who are capable of contributing towards the growth of it’s economy, based on various eligibility factors such as work experience, education, language ability etc.
Based on these factors, they are given a score out of 100. Candidates with the highest scores receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.
SINP Express Entry sub-category
The SINP Express Entry sub-category is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. To receive an invitation under this subcategory, the Express Entry candidates need to submit an Expression of Interest to the SINP. The Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nomination will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
