WHATSAPPIn the 182nd Express Entry draw held on April 14, a total of 266 candidates received invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada. All the invited candidates were provincial nominees with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 753. Though the score may seem exorbitantly high, considering the fact that provincial nominees receive additional 600 CRS score points, this is not at all high. The basic CRS score of a candidate with a total of score of 753 would be 153 points. Besides, compared to the previous PNP-specific draw held on March 31, the CRS cut-off score is 25 points lower.
Tie-break rule was applied in the draw and the time stamp given was March 01, 2021 at 15:22:18 UTC. It means only those candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time received invitations in the draw.
Express Entry 2021
In the first three months of the current year, Canada invited a record number of Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence. If this trend continues, Canada will meet its ambitious immigration target set for the year 2021.
The number of Express Entry who has received invitations so far this year is 49390. The number is almost double, compared to the number of Express Entry invitations issued during the same period last year. The reason is that, in a historic Express Entry draw held on February 13 this year, Canada invited 27332 Canadian Experience Class candidates to apply for permanent residence.
This year, Canada targets to welcome a total of 401000 new immigrants to the country. One fourth of these immigrants will enter the country through Express Entry. So far, Canada has conducted a total of 12 Express Entry draws this year. All of these were program-specific draws, targeting either CEC candidates or PNP candidates.
Express Entry immigration through PNP
To be eligible for an Express Entry invitation, a PNP candidate must have met the eligibility requirements under one of the federal economic immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class Program and Skilled Trades Program. To receive a provincial nomination, they should also demonstrate previous connections to the province and the skills and work experience needed to economically establish themselves in the province.
Almost all Provincial Nominee Programs are aligned to the federal Express Entry. Provinces choose Express Entry candidates based on their profiles. Some PNPs require the Express Entry candidates to submit an Expression of Interest to be considered for provincial nomination. The 600 additional CRS score points given to those nominated by the provinces is a sure-fire way to obtain an Express Entry invitation.
