In the Express Entry draw held on June 23, Canada invited 1002 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence. All the invited candidates are those who have earlier been nominated by Canadian provinces for permanent residence and received an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points. Because of this reason, the cut-off score for the draw was comparatively high at 742.
A tie-break rule was also applied in the draw and the time-stamp given was February 18, 2021 at 04:04:56 UTC. The draw invited eligible candidates with minimum CRS scores only if they had submitted their Express Entry profiles before this time.
The previous PNP-specific Express Entry draw was held on June 9 that invited 940 PNP candidates to apply for permanent residence. The CRS cut-off score for the draw was 711.
Ever since the start of this year, Express Entry draws have been alternating between Canadian Experience Class-only draws and PNP specific draws. Despite the pandemic, Canada is planning to welcome a record number of candidates this year and the coming two years. In the current year, the country is expecting to welcome 108500 new immigrants through Express Entry alone.
The number of Express Entry invitations issued by Canada so far this year is twice as many compared to the same time period in the previous year.
