In the Express Entry draw held on June 24 that specifically targeted Canadian Experience Class(CEC) candidates, the Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score further dropped to 357. This is the second lowest CRS cut-off score in a CEC-only Express Entry draw. The number of candidates who received invitations in the draw was 6000. The time stamp given for the tie-break rule applied in the draw was February 17, 2021 at 10:15:50 UTC. It means only those candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time received invitations.
Canadian Experience Class
Canadian Experience Class is one of the three federal economic immigration programs which are managed under the Express Entry. To be eligible under the program, the candidate must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada. They must also minimum intermediate level of proficiency in English or French.
For this year, Canada has set an ambitious target of welcoming 401,000 new immigrants to the country. Experts think that this is one of the reasons for the continuous drop in CRS cut-off score for CEC candidates. The lowest cut-off score was 75 in the draw of February 13, 2021 that invited 27,332 CEC candidates to apply for permanent residence.
Express Entry 2021
Ever since the start of this year, Express Entry draws have been alternating between PNP-specific draws and CEC-specific draws. However, immigration experts think that it is highly likely for Canada to resume all-program draws in the second half of this year. The first reason is that the immigration process of those who are invited will not be complete by the end of this year and by that time, the pandemic situation will have improved much. Secondly, Canada is scaling back border restrictions and the pandemic situation is easing in many of Canada’s top immigrant source countries including India. So there will be less COVID-related disruptions for immigration in the future.
So far, Canada has issued 88715 Invitations to Apply this year. The number is almost twice compared to the same time period last year.
