In the largest draw of the history of the Express Entry system of Canada held on November 18, a total of 5000 immigration candidates received Invitations to Apply(ITAs) for permanent residence. With the latest Express Entry draw, Canada has already surpassed the Express Entry immigration targets set for the year, as the total number of Express Entry invites issued in 2020 so far has hit 92,350. This is the highest number of Express Entry invites issued in any single year.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for candidates to receive an ITA in the November 18 Express Entry draw was 472. A tie-break rule was applied in the draw and the time stamp given was October 27 at 06:18:11 UTC. It means the draw prioritized those who had a minimum CRS score of 472 and submitted their profiles before the said date and time.
The high number of Express Entry invites issued aligns with Canada’s plan to admit a record number of new immigrants through Express Entry between 2021 and 2023, as outlined in the new Immigration Levels Plan. The impact of Coronavirus pandemic on Express Entry draws is minimal at present as Canada continues to invite a high number of candidates through Express Entry and process applications.
Canada Express Entry
Canada Express Entry system manages applications for immigration to Canada under the three major federal economic immigration programs of Canada, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Each Express Entry candidate is assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience, English and French language proficiency and awarded a score out of 1200 under the Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS). The highest scoring candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. This year, the CRS cut-off score in all-program Express Entry draws has been hovering above 470 for most of the all-program draws. The lowest CRS score required in any draw this year was 415 in the August 8 draw that exclusively targeted Skilled Trades candidates.
