The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 5956 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates to apply for permanent residence in the Express Entry draw held on May 31. This is the third largest Express Entry draw of 2021. The first, held on February 13, invited 27332 CEC candidates and the second are the two draws held in April which invited 6000 CEC candidates each.
The minimum required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in the draw of May 31 was 380, which is also the second lowest CRS cut-off score in the Express Entry draws of 2021. This is 17 points lower compared to the minimum CRS score required in the previous CEC-specific Express Entry draw held two weeks ago that invited 4114 candidates.
Canada is admitting a record number of new immigrants despite the pandemic. The country will be accepting 108500 new immigrants through Express Entry this year. So far, IRCC has invited 74773 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canada PR.
What is Canada Express Entry system?
Canada Express Entry, which came into existence in 2015, is a system to manage applications for immigration under the three economic immigration programs of Canada, which are Canadian Experience Class(CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSWP), and Federal Skilled Trades Program(FSTP). There are also a number of Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams that are aligned to the federal Express Entry.
Once you create an Express Entry profile, you will be assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability etc., and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score out of 1200. Those with the highest score will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The candidates with provincial nomination will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total score and that will guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in the Express Entry draw.
