Highlights
Canada held its 282nd Express Entry draw, since 2015, on February 01.
7000 registered foreign nationals with strong French-speaking abilities received ITAs for Canada PR.
The qualifying score lowered to 365 points from the previous French-category Express Entry draw.
Nearly 40,000 Express Entry ITAs for PR since June 28, 2023, under the new category-based draws.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its first category-based Express Entry in 2024. It qualified 7000 candidates with lower CRS 365 or above under the French language proficiency (2023-1) category to apply for Canadian permanent residency (PR).
February 01 marks the seventh Express Entry draw overall under the French language proficiency (2023-1).
It is possible that FSWP, CEC, or FSTP-qualified candidates received nominations here. However, no prior work experience is required for this French language proficiency (2023-1) category draw.
Additionally, invited candidates here secured a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score which is 105 points lower than the previous French language proficiency (2023-1) category-based draws.
Also, if more than one eligible candidate had the same CRS score, IRCC considered only those profiles submitted on or before September 08, 2023, at 09:47:27 UTC.
What is the French Language Proficiency (2023-1) Category Under Express Entry?
Individuals and families who hail from diverse French-speaking countries and whose native tongue is French, are known as French-speaking newcomers in Canada.
They usually hail from France, Haiti, Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, and others. They naturally gravitate towards regions with strong French communities like Quebec, New Brunswick, and parts of Ontario.
Previously, French proficiency granted extra points during Express Entry profile registration.
However, the recent introduction of the “French Language Proficiency (2023-1)” category has expedited invitations for exclusively French-speaking immigrants to settle beyond Quebec’s borders.
The remaining five categories of Express Entry are occupation-based for:
Healthcare occupations
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
Trades occupations, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
Transport occupations
Agriculture and agri-food occupations
How to Qualify for Upcoming Express Entry Draws?
IRCC will continue to hold all program draws, program-specific, and category-specific draws as needed. It is crucial as Canada plans to admit 110,700 permanent residents in 2024 through Express Entry alone. This will rise to 117,500 immigrants in each of 2025 and 2026.
You may consider the following assessment criteria to maximize your success:
Age: Younger candidates receive more points.
Education: Higher levels of education can earn you more CRS points.
Language Proficiency: Language skills in English and French are crucial.
Work Experience: Relevant work experience in a skilled occupation can earn you points.
Provincial Nomination: Candidates with prior provincial nominations receive additional CRS points.
Arranged Employment: If you have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, you can earn extra CRS points.
Spouse or Common-law Partner: Adaptability factors of your spouse or common-law partner can add points to your CRS score.
Siblings in Canada: Having a brother or sister who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident can give you additional CRS points.
