In the Express Entry draw held on September 29, Canada invited 761 Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) candidates to apply for permanent residence. The minimum required Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score for the candidates to receive an invitation in this draw was 742. Since all the invited candidates are provincial nominees and they must have received 600 additional CRS score points along with the nomination, the minimum basic CRS score of the candidates invited in the draw must be 142. In the previous PNP-only Express Entry draw held on September 15, Canada had invited 521 PNP candidates with a minimum score of 732. This time, the number of invited candidates is high and so is the CRS cut-off score.
Number of ITAs issued in 2021 breaks records
In 2020, Canada issued a total of 107350 invitations through Express Entry. But this year, more than 108000 invitations have already been issued so far, with three more months left in the year. However, it must be noted that throughout the year, Express Entry draws alternated between CEC-specific and PNP-specific draws. As the PNP candidates have received an additional 600 CRS score points, their CRS cut-off score remained high in the draws while the CEC draws had considerably lower CRS cut-off score. The CRS requirement drastically dropped to 75 for the CEC candidates in the historic draw held on February 13 this year.

What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an online immigration program that manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs of Canada, which are the Canadian Experience CLass, Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. The provincial nominees who have applied for Canada immigration through one of the PNP streams aligned to the Express Entry receive 600 additional CRS score points, which guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
