In the third consecutive Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-specific Express Entry draw held on October 13, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) invited 681 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for the candidates was 720. As the PNP nominees would have received 600 additional CRS score points, the basic CRS score of the invited candidates with the lowest points would be 120. That means the CRS score requirement is not at all high, though it may appear so.
In the previous PNP-specific draw held on September 29, a total of 761 candidates with a minimum score of 742 received invitations. It means the latest draw was smaller in size, with lower CRS requirement.
More Express Entry invitations to PNP candidates
Ever since the start of the current year, Express Entry draws have been alternately choosing Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program candidates. But in the past three draws, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been exclusively targeting PNP candidates. In the case of CEC candidates, they would most probably be residing in Canada and need not have to cross the borders when they receive the permanent residence status. Inviting CEC candidates exclusively made a lot of sense especially at a time border restrictions and public health measures were stricter in the wake of the spread of COVID-19.
However, the case is different for PNP candidates, as they need not necessarily be residing in Canada at the time of receiving the invitations. Express Entry draws continuing to invite PNP candidates means Canada remains committed towards its goals for fulfilling provincial and territorial immigration strategies.
A record number of PNP and CEC candidates received invitations in the Express Entry draws held so far this year. Last year was a record year for Express Entry with a total of 107350 candidates receiving invitations. At the same time, the total number of candidates who have already received invitations in the current year is 110377, with three more months still to go.

What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an online immigration program that manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs of Canada—Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Almost all Provincial Nominee Programs also have at least one stream or category aligned to the federal Express Entry. When the Express Entry candidates are nominated by the province, they will receive 600 additional CRS score points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
Express Entry is one of the easiest and fastest ways for migrating to Canada. If you are interested in Canada immigration, create an Express Entry profile without delay. For the best assistance, connect with CanApprove.
