In the third largest PNP-specific Express Entry draw of the year, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 888 candidates to apply for permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the candidates who received invitations in the draw held on October 27 was 744. Considering the fact that all the provincial nominees receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points, the CRS requirement is not at all high. For example, if the basic CRS score of a candidate is 144, the provincial nomination would have made them eligible to receive an invitation in the latest draw.
This is the third largest PNP-only draw of the year 2021. In the largest draw held so far on June 23, a total of 1002 Express Entry candidates were invited. The second largest draw held on June 9 invited 940 candidates. The number of candidates who received invitations in the previous PNP draw held on was 681 and the minimum CRS score required was 720.
Ever since Canada closed its borders following the outbreak of COVID-19 in March 2020, the Express Entry draws have been alternating between PNP and Canadian Experience Class. However, Canada has not held a Canadian Experience Class draw since September. The PNP-only draws being held consecutively is probably to align with the Immigration Levels Plan of the country for the year.
So far this year, Canada has invited a record number of candidates through Express Entry. The total number of candidates who received Express Entry invitations so far this year is 111,265. The number of candidates who received invitations last year was 107350.
Canada Express Entry
Canada Express Entry is one of the most simple, popular and faster pathway for Canada immigration. It is an online management system of immigration applications submitted under the three economic immigration programs of Canada, which are the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. The PNP candidates under Express Entry would already have qualified under one of these programs.
The Express Entry candidates are assessed and ranked on the basis of various eligibility factors and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score out of 1200. The candidates who are nominated by provinces receive 600 additional CRS score points. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the draws that are conducted regularly.
