Canada has launched a global campaign highlighting the positive impact of immigration on its communities. The campaign named ‘It Takes A Community’ was launched on March 29. It has called people from different walks of life including migrants to share positive stories on how they work to strengthen the communities they live in.
With this global campaign, Canada aims to fight misinformation, anti-immigrant sentiment, discrimination, hate speech and xenophobia. It also aims to celebrate that everyone, despite where they are born, can contribute towards making their communities better.
The campaign will spread positive stories about migration in the next 12 months. People anywhere in the world can join the campaign by sharing their personal stories on social media with the hashtag #ItTakesACommunity.
Those interested can also access a digital toolkit with templates, customizable content and sample messages for raising awareness about the positive effects of migration on their communities. Now the toolkit is available only in English and French. But soon, it will be made available in many other languages.
Significance of campaign
The website of the campaign says, “have seen inaccurate and harmful narratives about migrants rise worldwide, a challenge that has become even more urgent in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.” It further adds, “Now more than ever, it is important for us to come together to ensure that everyone receives the support and protection they need for communities to build back better from COVID-19.”
Talking about the campaign, Canada’s Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino said, “It is important to recognize the many ways that migrants and refugees are giving back and contributing positively to their communities, both in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.”
“By sharing their stories and speaking up about how our countries, cities and organizations are stronger when we come together, we can all play a role in this campaign to push back against discrimination and create more welcoming and inclusive communities for all.” he added.
Why Canada needs immigrants?
Immigrants play a crucial role in the economic and social development of Canada, a country which will face a severe population crisis in the absence of migration. Canada’s population is aging fast and the birth rate is dismally low. So Canada is depending on immigrants to maintain a healthy popular growth.
Canada’s immigration system mainly targets skilled workers, who can contribute towards the growth of the country’s economy with their skills and work experience. Some of Canada’s booming economic sectors such as IT, food industry and healthcare depend heavily on immigrants for growth.
Because of this reason, skilled immigrants are in high demand in Canada. Do you want to know if you are eligible of Canada immigration? If yes, kindly connect with the Canada immigration consultants of CanApprove.
