Alberta Express Entry stream
The Express Entry stream of Alberta is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The stream allows Alberta to select eligible candidates from the federal Express Entry pool and nominate them for permanent residence in Canada. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Each Express Entry candidates is awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score based on various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience etc. and those will the highest score are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
The candidates who have a provincial nomination will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System score points added to their basic CRS score. This would guarantee them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada. For example, if the basic CRS score of candidates invited by Alberta is 300, upon receiving provincial nomination, they will have 900 CRS score points. As the minimum CRS score for PNP candidates to receive an invitation in a federal Express Entry draw these days is between 600 and 800, they would definitely get an invitation in a subsequent draw.
