The latest Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on August 19 invited 161 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Among the total number of invitations issued, 152 went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. The remaining nine invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates. However, candidates under this category were required to have a minimum score of 72 on the points grid of PEI PNP to receive an invitation.
The August 19 draw is the eighth PEI PNP draw of the year. The total number of invitations issued by the province so far this year is 1194. The next PEI PNP draw is expected to be held on September 16, 2021.
PEI PNP Express Entry category
The Express Entry category of PEI PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class. Those who wish to immigrate to Canada under Express Entry must first create an Express Entry profile. Each profile will then be assessed and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Candidates with the highest scores will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
To receive an invitation under the Express Entry category of PEI PNP, a candidate must have an active Express Entry profile. They also need to submit an Expression of Interest to the PEI PNP. If they receive an invitation to apply and obtain a provincial nomination subsequently, they will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System score points added to their total CRS score. It guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a federal Express Entry draw.
PEI PNP Labour Impact category
Immigration candidates who have a valid job offer from PEI employer may apply for provincial nomination under Labour Impact category. The category has three streams, which are Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate. The Labour Impact category also requires the candidate to submit an Expression of Interest to receive a provincial nomination.
Provincial Nominee Programs are a great of option for Canada immigration aspirants who have low CRS scores and those who do not have an Express Entry profile.
