In the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) draw held on April 28, the province invited 301 candidates under the Express Entry-linked French-speaking Skilled Worker Stream to apply for provincial nomination. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the invited candidates ranged between 460 and 467. They were also those who had submitted their Express Entry profiles between April 28, 2021 and April 28, 2022. Another requirement was language proficiency equal to not less than Canadian Language Benchmark 7 in French and 6 in English.
Ontario Express Entry: French-speaking Skilled Worker Stream
To be eligible under this stream, a candidate must meet the following requirements:
- An active Express Entry profile
- At least one year of work experience under NOC occupation level 0, A or B acquired within the last five years
- Bachelor’s or Master’s or PhD degree equalling to Canadian standards
- Language proficiency equal to CLB level 7 in French or CLB level 6 in English
- Intention to reside in the province of Ontario
- Proof of settlement funds
One cannot apply under the Ontario French-speaking Skilled Worker Stream as it operates on invitation-only basis. So those who have an active Express Entry profile can apply under this stream, if they are selected by Ontario from the Express Entry pool and invited to apply for provincial nomination. However, meeting all the required qualifications does not guarantee anybody an invitation from Ontario. If they have received an NOI they may apply within 45 calendar days to apply for a provincial nomination. If they are nominated by Ontario, they will receive 600 additional CRS score points which would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
Once they receive an invitation from the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), they may submit the complete application for permanent residence through Express Entry.
