In the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) draw held on October 22, Express Entry candidates who had a primary occupation as computer programmers and interactive media developers (NoC 2174) received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. However, the NSNP has not yet revealed the number of invitations issued under this Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream draw.
The invited candidates need to submit letters of reference from their employers to prove that they have more than three years of full-time or equivalent part-time work experience. This work experience should have been acquired within five years preceding the submission of application. The candidates also need at least one year of Canadian work experience in any occupation with NOC skill level O, A or B. Further, they should have official language proficiency equal to seven in all English language abilities. The candidates must also have a bachelor’s degree or completed a post-secondary education program of at least three years.
The candidates need to submit their applications for provincial nomination before 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 21, 2020. Along with the application, they need to submit copies of language tests and proofs of education. For education qualifications obtained from outside Canada, they need to submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report.
Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream
The Labour Market Priorities Stream of Nova Scotia invites candidates according to the labour market needs of the province. The previous draw invited Express Entry candidates having experience in the automotive industry.
In order to receive an invitation under the Labour Market Priorities Stream, the candidate must have an active Express Entry profile. The Express Entry system manages applications for immigration under the three economic immigration programs of Canada, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Each profile is assessed and ranked on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) under which, each candidate is awarded a score out of 1200 based on various eligibility factors such as age, work experience, education and language ability. The highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. However, those who have a provincial nomination will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total CRS score.
Those who have received invitations to apply for provincial nomination from Nova Scotia may apply for the same within 60 calendar days.
