Canada held one of the largest Canadian Experience Class (CEC)-specific Express Entry draws on June 10 and invited 6000 candidates to apply for permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the invited candidates was 368.
As the invited candidates have been qualified under the Canadian Experience Class program, they have met the requirements including at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada and intermediate level of language proficiency in English or French. The cut-off time for the tie-break rule in the draw was April 28, 2021 at 05:45:14 UTC. It means the draw considered only those candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time.
CRS cut-off score in CEC-specific draws
The CEC-specific draws have seen some of the lowest CRS cut-off scores in the history of Express Entry. The CRS cut-off score in the previous CEC-specific draw was 380. The lowest ever CRS cut-off score was in the draw held on February 13, 2021, which was only 75.
At the same time, the CRS requirement for PNP-specific draws remains high as the provincial nominees receive 600 additional CRS score points. The CRS cut-off score in the PNP-specific draw held on June 9 was 711.
Though travel restrictions are still in place, Canada is planning to admit a record number of new immigrants over the next three years. The country is planning to welcome 108500 new immigrants this year through Express Entry alone.
Immigration through Express Entry
The Express Entry system manages applications under the three economic immigration programs, which are the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program. PNP streams are also there that are aligned to the federal Express Entry program. Each Express Entry candidate is awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on various eligibility factors. Those with the highest scores receive Invitation to Apply(ITA) for permanent residence in Canada.
