Among these programs, the three economic immigration programs managed by the Express Entry system have the highest combined target this year–81,400 new immigrants. Express Entry is a faster and simpler pathway for immigration to Canada with almost 80 percent of the applications being processed within six months.
Immigration through Provincial Nominee Programs
Canada’s immigration target through Provincial Nominee Programs for the year 2019 is 61,000. The target will be further increased to 67,800 in 2020 and 71,300 in 2021.
Family sponsorship
Canada immigration policy gives the highest priority to family reunification. One of the major attractions of obtaining permanent residence in Canada is that the person would be able to sponsor their family members to immigrate to Canada. In 2019, Canada plans to admit 88,500 persons through family sponsorship programs for spouses/common-law partners and children as well as parents and grandparents. The target will be raised to 91000 in 2020 and 2021.
