In the Express Entry draw held on August 19, a total of 3000 Canadian Experience Class(CEC) candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of 403 received invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The CRS cut-off score is one point lower compared to the previous CEC-specific draw held on August 5. A tie-break rule was applied and only those candidates who had submitted their profiles before August 01, 2021 at 10:13:57 UTC received invitations in the draw.
Canada Express Entry 2021
Ever since the start of 2021, Express Entry draws have been alternating between Provincial Nominee Programs and Canadian Experience Class. This arrangement is aimed to overcome the hindrances to immigration caused by the border restrictions. Canada restricted international travel to the country in March 2020, in the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19. The CEC and PNP candidates would most probably be residing in Canada so they will not have to cross the borders to enter Canada. This is the reason why the Express Entry draws exclusively targeted PNP and CEC candidates.
But as the COVID situation in Canada has improved much following the extensive COVID vaccination drive, the country is scaling back its border restrictions. So it is expected that an all-program Express Entry draw in which candidates belonging to all categories including the Federal Skilled Worker Program would receive invitations.
Canada’s Express Entry immigration target
Canada has set an annual immigration target of welcoming 108,500 Express Entry candidates in 2021. So far, Canada has issued a total of 105779 invitations through Express Entry.
In Canadian Experience Class-specific Express Entry draws, the CRS cut-off score has remained typically low, as they do not have to compete with Federal Skilled Worker Program candidates. Further, Provincial Nominee Program candidates get an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System score points. Because of this reason, the CRS requirement would be generally above 700 for PNP candidates.
