The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on September 16 invited 143 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Out of the total number of invitations, 129 were issued to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. The remaining nine invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates who had scored at least 72 points on the immigration system of the province. This is the eighth PEI PNP draw 2021 and so far, the province has invited 1337 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. Through the PEI PNP draw, the province selects immigration candidates who can meet their labour market needs. The next PEI PNP draw is scheduled to be held on October 21, 2021.
PEI PNP Express Entry
The Express Entry category of PEI PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. So the basic requirement to qualify under this stream is to have a valid Express Entry profile.
The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. The candidates are assessed on the basis of various human capital factors such as age, work experience, education and language proficiency and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
The candidates who receive a provincial nomination will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points added to their profile. So they are guaranteed of an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
Under this category, the candidates also need to create and Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP. Each of these Expressions of Interest are assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors on the unique points grid of PEI PNP and those with the highest scores are invited to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are held every month.
PEI PNP Labour Impact category
The candidates who have a valid job offer and support of the employer to settle in the province may apply for a provincial nomination under the Labour Impact category. This category has three streams under it, which are Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate streams.
The candidates under this category are also required to submit an Expression of Interest to be considered for provincial nomination.
Business Impact category
The Business Impact category candidates need to meet the minimum provincial score requirement in order to be invited. In the latest draw, invitations were issued to Business Impact category candidates under the Work Permit Stream. This stream is exclusively for entrepreneurs, who want to own and operate a business in the province.
