In the latest Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) draw held on November 7, the province invited 180 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The invited candidates belonged to the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas categories and International Education stream of MPNP.
Manitoba conducts periodic draws to invite candidates from these categories and stream to apply for provincial nomination. To be considered for the draw, Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP. Each EoI profile is awarded a score out of 1000 based on various eligibility factors such as age, work experience, education, previous connection to the province, language proficiency etc. The highest scoring candidates are invited to apply for provincial nomination in the periodically conducted draws. The candidates who receive Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) can submit their applications for provincial nomination to MPNP.
The distribution LAAs issued to candidates of the three streams in the November 7 draw is as follows:
- Skilled Worker in Manitoba: 133
- Skilled Worker Overseas: 24
- International Education Stream: 23
MPNP Express Entry
The Express Entry candidates who successfully apply for and obtain provincial nomination would receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points and an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw. To be considered for provincial nomination from MPNP, an Express Entry candidate must have eligible work experience in one of the in-demand occupations of Manitoba, meet other requirements and submit a separate Expression of Interest to the MPNP.
MPNP Skilled Worker Overseas category
Through the Skilled Worker Overseas category, Manitoba selects and nominates eligible candidates with skills that are high in demand in Manitoba’s labour market.
To be eligible, the candidate must have an established connection to Manitoba in the form of close family or friends residing in the province, previous education or work experience in the province or an invitation issued through one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of MPNP. However, it is not necessary for the candidate to be residing in Manitoba. The minimum EoI score of the Skilled Worker Overseas candidates invited in the November 7 MPNP draw was 719.
MPNP Skilled Worker in Manitoba category
To be invited through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba category, the candidate must be working in Manitoba and have a full-time permanent job offer from their employer. The minimum EoI score of the candidate invited through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba category in the November 7 draw was 560.
MPNP International Education Stream
International students graduated from Manitoba institutions, who possess the skills that are in high demand in Manitoba labour market, can apply for provincial nomination through the International Education Stream of MPNP. The stream has three sub-categories: Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and the Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
With the November 7 draw, the total number of invitations issued by Manitoba through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas and International Education immigration pathways so far this year has touched 6911.
