In the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) draw held on February 22, the province invited 773 Express Entry candidates with work experience in one of the targeted occupations. The candidates were invited through the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities(HCP) Stream. This is Ontario’s largest HCP draw so far this year.
The candidates were also required to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 455 and 600 to receive an invitation in the latest draw. It must be noted that 600 is the maximum CRS points an Express Entry candidate can obtain without a provincial nomination. Earlier, Ontario used to set a maximum CRS score range so that those who had a score above that would not get an invitation. In 2021, Ontario PNP draws did not invite candidates who had CRS score above 467. Because of this reason, many candidates were trying to reduce their scores so that they would get an invitation from Ontario.
In the latest draw, Ontario invited candidates who had created their Express Entry profile between February 22, 2021 and April 29, 2021. To receive an invitation in the draw, candidates were also required to have work experience in one of the following occupations:
- NOC 0114 – Other administrative services managers
- NOC 0122 – Banking, credit and other investment managers
- NOC 0124 – Advertising, marketing and public relations managers
- NOC 0125 – Other business services managers
- NOC 0211 – Engineering managers
- NOC 0311 – Managers in health care
- NOC 0601 – Corporate sales managers
- NOC 0631 – Restaurant and food service managers
- NOC 0711 – Construction managers
- NOC 0731 – Managers in transportation
- NOC 0911 – Manufacturing managers
- NOC 1121 – Human resources professionals
- NOC 1122 – Professional occupations in business management consulting
- NOC 2161 – Mathematicians, statisticians and actuaries
- NOC 3012 – Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses
- NOC 3211 – Medical laboratory technologists
- NOC 3231 – Opticians
- NOC 3233 – Licensed practical nurses
The candidates who have received an invitation may submit the complete application within 45 calendar days. If they receive a provincial nomination from Ontario, they will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total score. This would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw. As per the Immigration Levels Plan of Canada for 2022-24, Canada will be welcoming 83500 new immigrants through both Express Entry and PNP in 2022.
Since September 2021, Express Entry draws have been exclusively targeting PNP candidates. So a provincial nomination would enhance your chances for obtaining an invitation to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry. If you want to receive a nomination through Express Entry-aligned PNP streams, you must first create an Express Entry profile.
