Avail services of authorised Canada immigration consultants: Minister

Marco Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), has urged the Canada immigration aspirants to choose their immigration representatives wisely. He said this in a statement issued in the context of March being observed as the fraud prevention month. While choosing a representative for Canada immigration, the applicants have to make sure that they are authorized to do business with the government, said the Minister.

In the statement, the Minister reiterated Canada’s commitment to prevent cases of immigration scams and immigration aspirants becoming victims to fraudsters. “The vast majority of these applicants are genuine and wish to come to Canada in good faith. Unfortunately, there are some dishonest people who prey on these individuals, and the Government of Canada is committed to preventing applicants from becoming victims of fraud,” the statement read.
The Minister reminded the immigration applicants that nobody can guarantee them that their applications  would be given special treatment or they would be approved. All applications are assessed fairly and on the same merit.

Licensed Canada immigration consultants

A licensed immigration consultant or lawyer is the one who meet the following criteria:

• The immigration consultant must be a member of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council
• The lawyer/notary must be a member of a Canadian provincial or territorial law society, or the Chambre des notaires du Québec.
• Paralegals (Ontario only) must have membership in the Law Society of Upper Canada.

If a Canada immigration representative does not meet these parameters, the immigration applicants must not accept their services.
