The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score for the Express Entry draw held on September 14 was changed from 511 to 510 on the website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It means candidates with a minimum CRS score of 510 have received invitations in the draw. Though it is a high score compared to other all-program draws, it is still low while considering the draws held after July 6th 2022, when all-program Express Entry draws resumed after a gap of 18 months.
CRS cut score cut-off
IRCC website had originally posted the CRS cut-off score for the latest Express Entry draw as 511. But soon some people reported online that they received invitations even though their minimum score was 510. After some time, the IRCC updated the minimum score as 510.
As it was an all-program draw, candidates from all immigration programs, with a minimum CRS score of 510 have received invitations. IRCC had stopped conducting all-program Express Entry draws since December 2020 for 18 months. The restrictions imposed in the wake of COVID-19 were the major reason for this. During this period, only candidates belonging to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) had received invitations. In September 2021, CEC candidates also stopped receiving invitations.
More candidates receiving Express Entry invitations
But with the COVID crisis over, Canada is admitting immigrants in huge numbers. The all-program Express Entry draws have also resumed, giving a chance for immigration aspirants from all categories to apply for permanent residence. The number of invitations issued has increased gradually ever since the all-program draws were resumed. Also the CRS scores have come down significantly.
Canada has already welcomed 40785 immigrants through Express Entry so far this year. As per the Immigration Levels Plan for 2022-24, Canada will be welcoming around 55900 Express Entry candidates in 2022.
Changes to Express Entry system
Canada is planning to bring about a number of changes to the Express Entry system. A new National Occupational Classification System would come into effect soon. It has also been announced that soon the Express Entry draws would choose candidates on the basis of factors such as skills, training, work experience etc. rather than CRS score alone.
