In the latest Canada PNP draw held on February 2023, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) invited 699 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of the invited candidates was 791.The draw exclusively targeted provincial nominees. So, this is the third program-specific draw being held in 2023, after those held on February 1 and February 2. The February 1 draw had also targeted provincial nominees and the February 2 draw exclusively targeted candidates belonging to Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSWP).Earlier, Express Entry draws used to be held regularly in every two weeks. But the pattern of Express Entry draws changed drastically several times after the COVID-19 pandemic. It can also be noted that there has not been a set pattern for Express Entry draws held in 2023. The first draw of this year was held on January 11. It was held after a gap of six weeks, which happened owing to an IT system glitch when the NOC 2021 was implemented. The next draw was held just a week later, on January 18. The number invitations issued in this draw was the same as the previous draw, but the CRS score was significantly lower. The January 11 draw invited 5500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 507, while the January 18 draw invited the same number of candidates with a minimum CRS score of 490. The next draw held on February 1 was not an all-program draw, as only Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) received invitations in the draw. The most recent draw, held on February 2 invited Federal Skilled Worker Program candidates alone.
Canada Express Entry
Canada introduced the Express Entry system in 2015 with an aim to manage applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs of Canada, which are the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Further, almost all the Provincial Nominee Programs have at least one category or stream aligned to the federal Express Entry, which selects candidates who are qualified under any of the above said economic immigration programs. The Express Entry candidates are assessed on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System and each candidate is provided a Comprehensive Ranking System score based on this assessment. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. If their application is approved, they will be issued with Canada PR visa.
