Those who want to submit the document proofs of the education qualification for Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to the World Education Services(WES) may upload their degree certificate directly on the WES website now. Earlier, the candidates were supposed to send degree certificates along individual mark lists to the WES either by courier or by post.
Now the degree certificate and other documents which need not be attested by the university can be uploaded directly on the WES website.
WES has given a few guidelines regarding the uploading process, which are:
- Upload only PDF and JPEG files
- The maximum file size should not exceed 10MB
- Do not give password to PDF documents
- The documents should be clear
- Preview the documents before submitting
- Once submitted, the documents cannot be deleted
Earlier, the candidates had to request to the universities to send the degree certificate along with the attested mark lists to WES so that all these documents would reach the WES together. The universities often declined this request, as degree certificate need not be attested. So in order to avoid further delays, the candidates used to get their degree certificates attested so that it could be sent to the WES along with the mark lists.
The minimum cost of sending the documents by courier to the WES is Rs 3000. Besides, the candidates had to unnecessarily spend Rs500 in order to get the degree certificate attested by the university. With the latest arrangement, all these can be avoided.
In another relevant change, WES now gives ECA report for postgraduate qualifications, even if the applicants have not received the documents of the undergraduate degree.
Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
The candidates who have acquired their educational qualifications from outside Canada must submit the Educational Credential Assessment(ECA) report to prove their eligibility for Express Entry. The ECA report proves that the foreign educational credentials of the candidate are equivalent to their counterpart Canadian education qualifications.
If the candidate’s spouse has a post-secondary degree, the candidate can earn some extra Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points by getting their educational credentials assessed.
World Education Service (WES)
World Education Service (WES) is one of the most widely preferred bodies for Educational Credential Assessment(ECA), being low cost with having a simple procedure. The assessment is done within 20-25 days, while in the case of other assessing bodies, it may take a few months.
International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS)
IQAS is an assessing body under Alberta government, which is authorized by the IRCC to evaluate the educational credentials of immigration candidates. IQAS does not accept credentials from those universities which cannot prove their authenticity. Further, the IQAS acknowledges a number of universities and degrees, which are not accepted by WES.
IQAS had earlier stopped accepting applications for ECA, owing to a high number of applications. But currently, they have resumed accepting applications.
The ECA agencies are doing their best for making the ECA process easier for candidates in the wake of the difficult situation caused by the COVID-19 crisis. IRCC and Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs continue to invite candidates and accept applications for immigration.
If you are thinking about migrating to Canada, you need not wait for the crisis to end to go ahead with your Canada immigration plans. Contact CanApprove for expert guidance and support for Canada migration.
