Canada conducted two Express Entry draws within a gap of a few hours on April 9. In the first draw which exclusively targeted Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) candidates, 606 invitations were issued to candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 698.
Tie-break rule was applied and the time stamp given was December 18, 2020 at 11:29:51 UTC. It means the draw prioritized those candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time and had the minimum CRS score required to be invited.
An Express Entry candidate who is nominated by a province for permanent residence in Canada has 600 additional points added to their total CRS score. Ever since the last all-program draw held on March 4, the PNPs of Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia have issued invitations through their Express Entry-aligned streams.
The second Express Entry draw held on April 9 was exclusively for Canadian Experience Class(CEC) candidates and the minimum cut-off score was 464. A total of 3294 candidates received invitations in the draw. This is the second Express Entry draw in less than a month that has targeted Canadian Experience Class candidates. To be eligible under targeted Canadian Experience Class, the candidate must have at least one year of work experience in Canada and meet other criteria. The tie-break rule was applied in the draw too and the time stamp given was January 4, 2020, at 12:16:45 UTC.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has not conducted any all-program Express Entry draw in the last one month. Immigration experts think that the COVID-19 crisis might be a reason for Canada conducting program-specific draws these days. However, on a positive note, Canada continues to invite immigration applicants and process the applications despite the COVID-19 crisis.
