In the Canada latest Express Entry draw held on August 19, a total of 600 candidates received invitations to apply for permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required in the draw was 771. The draw specifically targeted those candidates who had a provincial nomination. The provincial nominees already have 600 additional points added to their basic CRS score. It means the basic CRS score required to be invited in the latest Express Entry draw was just 171.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has used a tie-break rule in the latest draw and the timestamp applied is July 24, 2020 at 11:29:33 UTC. It means the draw prioritized those candidates with a minimum CRS score of 771, who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time.
This is the third Express Entry draw to be held in the month of August. Earlier, on August 6, a total of 250 Federal Skilled Trades Program candidates had received invitations and the minimum required CRS score was 415. In the all-program Express Entry draw held on the previous day on August 5, a total of 3900 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 476 had received invitations to apply.
If Canada is continuing the Express Entry draw pattern that it adopted after the coronavirus lockdown was introduced on March 18, yet another draw is likely to be held on August 20. With the latest draw, the total number of ITAs issued by Canada so far this year has reached 62450. It means, despite the limitations caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, Canada is still continuing to pursue its immigration goals for 2020.
Canada Express Entry
The Express Entry system was introduced by Canada in January 2015 with an aim to streamline applications for immigration under the federal economic immigration programs, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). The candidates are assessed and ranked on the basis of the CRS score and the highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence in the Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. Though a job offer from a Canadian employer is not mandatory to qualify under the Express Entry system, those who have one gets additional CRS score points. The applications for Canada permanent residence submitted under the Express Entry system may get processed within as early as six months.
