In the first draw of 2021 held on January 19, Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) invited candidates under its Labour Market Priorities Stream. However, NSNP has not disclosed how many invitations were issued in the draw.
The draw targeted candidates whose primary occupation is financial officer – National Occupation Classification (NOC) code 1114. The previous Labour Market Priorities stream had targeted programmers and media developers, automotive industry workers and nurses.
NSNP Labour Market Priorities Stream
In order to receive an invitation under the Labour Market Priorities stream of Nova Scotia, a candidate must have received a Letter of Interest from NSNP through Express Entry. The candidates must also demonstrate minimum work experience in the relevant occupation and enough funds to settle in the province.
Further, they must provide reference letters from employers and must have work experience of at least four years as a financial officer. They must have a bachelor’s degree having completed an education program with a duration of at least three years. In the latest draw, they were also required to have Canadian Language Benchmark(CLB) score equal to 9 or higher in English.
Those who have received invitations in the draw may submit the complete application before February 18, 2021. Along with the application, they must submit a copy of their language tests, proof of education and proof of work experience.
Express Entry
To receive an invitation under the Labour Market Priorities stream of NSNP, the candidate must have a valid Express Entry profile. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three economic class immigration programs of the country, which are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Candidates in the Express Entry system are assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience and language ability. Based on this assessment, each candidate is awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score. Candidates with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the federal Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. Candidates who have received a provincial nomination will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total score. It guarantees them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
